COMMUNITY FIRST
Your mission. Practical creative support.
There is often one office task that slows everyone down. Perhaps it is finding the right file, updating a shared worksheet, or showing a new volunteer how to prepare a document. The task may be simple once someone explains it clearly, but reaching that explanation can take time.
That is where we want your input. As part of Community First, BuzzFusion Hub Designs is inviting community-serving organizations and community service offices to suggest topics for future step-by-step tutorials.
Practical learning for everyday work
Our focus is on understandable instructions for routine computer and office tasks. We want materials that staff and volunteers can follow at their own pace and return to when they need a reminder. The goal is greater confidence and smoother work, with useful steps people can put into practice.
Start by browsing the tutorials currently available. You can also explore the free resources library for practical materials that may already help with your task.
Which task would you nominate?
- Organizing routine email so important messages are easier to find.
- Entering and updating information in a spreadsheet.
- Preparing a clear document or reusable office template.
- Keeping shared files organized with understandable names.
- Creating instructions for a task new volunteers need to learn.
- Following a repeatable process without missing a step.
These are examples of possible future topics, not a list of tutorials we are promising are already available. Your requests will help us understand where an explanation would be most useful.
Send a request we can work from
A useful request does not need technical language. Tell us what you are trying to accomplish, the program or app you use, and the part that causes difficulty. Mention whether the guide is intended for a first-time user or someone who knows the basics.
For example: “Our volunteers use a shared spreadsheet. We would like instructions for entering new rows and checking that information is complete.” That gives us a clearer starting point than “We need help with computers.” You can describe a fictional example instead of sending real records.
Help us make the instructions usable
Think about the format your team would find easiest. Would numbered steps be enough? Would a screenshot clarify the confusing part? Would a one-page quick reference help after the initial explanation? Those details can help shape a guide people will actually use.
Written tutorials support your organization’s own training and supervision. They should fit the way your team works and leave room for questions when a task requires additional guidance.
What happens to requests?
We will use requests to help plan additions to the tutorial collection. Related requests may suggest a guide that could assist several organizations. Scope, software differences, and availability affect what can be created and when, so requesting a topic does not guarantee a particular guide or completion date.
Please keep your message general and leave out passwords, private client details, donor records, and confidential office material. Email buzzfusionhub@gmail.com with the subject “Community First Tutorial Request.”
One question for your team today
Ask: “What is one task we explain over and over?” Send us the answer. Your suggestion could help shape a future resource for your own team and other community organizations facing the same everyday challenge.
Community First: let’s talk about your mission
As part of our Community First introductory outreach, BuzzFusion Hub Designs is offering a complimentary first consultation to community-serving organizations. Depending on your mission, needs, project scope, and our availability, a first project may also qualify for no-charge assistance. We will discuss that individually; free project work is not guaranteed.
Email buzzfusionhub@gmail.com to tell us about your organization, needs, and timeline.
